Psalm 48

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Double Time

by Pete Garcia

The three most dreaded words in the Army are, double time, March! For those not familiar with military drill and ceremony commands, this just means start running. Military folk has a far greater appreciation for and sensitivity to time in a way that most civilians cannot fully appreciate. For instance, if you’re not ten minutes early to an event, you’re late. If you have a formation at 0600 (depending on the level of formation-Division, Brigade, Battalion, Company) that really means you have to be there at 0530 (at the latest). Deployments? I think we invented the phrase “hurry up and wait.”

Operationally speaking, success or failure is measured in successfully executing whatever it is you’re doing at approximately T-Hour +/- 30 seconds. This becomes especially critical for those of us in MEDEVAC where we would get a mission over a radio, get dressed, get the mission briefing details, and get the aircraft ready, and launch within 15 minutes (or less)…at any time, day or night.

But I think the most significant differential between military and civilians, centers around lost time. If deployments have instilled anything in me in relation to time, it is to take advantage of the time you have with those you love. With your progeny, you will leave them as babies and come back to find toddlers. If you leave them as toddlers, you come back to kids. Leave them as kids, and you come back to tweens. Time tends to go by very fast when you’re leaving every other year.

But our God is the God of time. God created time when He put the firmament in place for man to use. (Gen. 1:14) Even more so, is the reality that because He created time, He is outside of the time-space continuum. Being outside of time, or rather, not constrained by it, means that He can see the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:9-10) and already knows how this all plays out. Thus, when Jesus predicted the Temple would be destroyed (Matt. 23:37-24:3), He had already seen it happen and thus could declare with absolute certainty of its impending destruction. Of particular interest in His discourse on the Mt. of Olives, is the Parable of the Fig Tree. In this He says…

“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. (Matt. 24:32)

Numerous allusions and examples in both the Old and New Testament have alluded to the nation of Israel, as a fig tree…

The abandoning of Bible eschatology

by Mike Oppenheimer

Latter Rain adherents believe in a last day’s revival unlike any other in history taking place today. This view is an outgrowth of the “kingdom now” restoration movement. It wrongly applies eschatological passages for Israel to the church today. To many, the nation of Israel is no longer an integral part of God’s end time plan and rejected, despite the warnings in Romans 11:18-29 and Genesis 12:3.

Some have fully rejected the idea that Christ is coming to take His people out of this world (called the rapture/resurrection) as he pours out judgment on a Christ rejecting world,. Many have ridiculed the hope of being taken to heaven replacing it with a new hope, a kingdom built by the church that will take over the world before Christ comes back. The Church is to be empowered like Jesus and is now to solve the world’s social and political problems even though we can’t solve our own.

Take back dominion from Satan that we supposedly lost in the garden and control the world for Christ. The church reigns or as some say Christ reigns through the church. Instead of looking for our coming savior, we now look to ourselves to solve the problems of planet earthbefore He returns. But this is not how events transpire in the prophetic Scriptures. Dominionists often use biblical truths and distort them to reinforce their justification for building the kingdom here on Earth today. This is all part of the falling away, it diminishes our preparing and staying awake, watching for His coming as the events He forewarned transpire.

One may ask Is Jesus coming soon anymore?

Nowhere does Scripture teach that things will get better and better before the return of Jesus Christ, instead they get worse and …

The Siege… Zechariah 19

Pastor Bill Randles Blog

The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.  Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.(Zechariah 12:1-3)

We come now to the final vision of Zechariah, bypassing the 2000 year gap since the fulfillment of his previous prophecy. Zechariah sees the events around the final conflict and deliverance of Israel at the end of the Age, and in the day of the LORD.

Jerusalem is of such importance to…

TODAY is the Day of Salvation

By the Blood of the Lamb

2(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

2 Corinthians 6:2

At approximately 9:30 a.m.,Arnold Delarosa, 48, of Mission, Texas, was driving a semi, loaded with truck tires, east on the I-40 bridge approximately five miles west of Amarillo.

Delarosa veered off the roadway, crashed through the guardrail, and plummeted to the ground.

The semithen crashed into cement pillars under the overpass which caused the vehicle to catch fire.

The entire truck and trailer were fully engulfed in flames.

Delarosa was pronounced dead on scene by the Potter County Justice of the Peace, and the next of kin have been notified.

This fiery crash happened just a few miles from my house. My wife and I drive our girls to school right…

Strange Weather: Revelation or Global Warming

by J. L. Robb

“From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.”  (Revelation 16:21 NIV)

When John wrote of this vision nearly 2,000 years ago, he probably wondered what he was seeing. Hundred-pound hailstones? Surely not. There were a lot of surely nots in Revelation.

Actually, when the verse was written, the Hebrew didn’t mention hailstones weighing “a hundred pounds.” The weight of the hailstones was described as a talent each. A talent, in Hebrew, ranges in weight depending on the commodity. For example, a talent of silver weighed 125 pounds; and a talent of gold weighed 250 pounds. Whatever the gauge, these hailstones in the last days are going to be large, and heavy.

As a kid growing up in the 1950s, our activities were somewhat limited when compared to today’s.  Television was relatively new, but most had radios and looked forward every Sunday to listening to The Shadow.  We also had a Bible.

During the summer my cousin and I would sit on his bed each night in hot and hotter Waynesboro, Georgia, and read the book of Revelation.  By the time we were through, we were scared to death. Then we would lie in bed talking about it for an hour or so, knowing with absolute certainty that the writer just had to be talking about atomic bombs, another recent innovation that ended World War II.

I would use my ten year old imagination and try to envision the disasters that were to befall mankind during the last days, pondering when that might happen. How could a mountain be thrown into the sea? How could a star fall into the ocean? How big was that final Earthquake going to be? But the most intriguing prediction to me was the one about the coming hailstorms during those days. These hailstorms were described by John as the “worst” of all the plagues, with hundred-pound hailstones falling from the sky. That was really scary, so my cousin and I went to Woolworth’s and bought football helmets…
