Holy Yoga EXPOSED!

Emergent Watch

Emergent Watch takes a close look at the  so-called Christian ministry of “Holy Yoga”. Holy Yoga has been around since 2005, and is the brainchild of Brooke Boon. This group came to our attention when it was discovered it was being brought into local churches in Orange County, CA. Since at least 2013, it has been a regular “ministry” at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church, and Mariner’s, Irvine.

Holy Yoga has recently shown they are teaching not simply yogic postures, but the breathing exercises known as Pranayama – which is designed to awaken occult Kundalini powers. Surveying the Holy Yoga podcasts on Soundcloud, it is also discovered that they are teaching guided meditations, “Breath Prayers”, Christianized Mantra meditation, as well as contemplative spirituality.

The “grass is always greener” concept strikes again. It’s popular in our Western society to belittle our own Western culture and look to the East for “a better way.” Finding methods to relax and reduce stress is good but yoga is full of Hinduistic philosophy. It’s not surprising that Warren is pushing this. I’m thinking 30 minutes daily of Bible reading and prayer would reduce stress as effectively as yoga but, no, that’s too Western!

The scary part is that it’s accepted in “Christian” churches as being Godly prayer. If that isn’t blatant deception, I don’t know what is. Shows that many have no clue who Jesus is or what salvation really is about. So much for being born again, huh? But, then again, it’s all about purpose in Warren’s world, not repentance; and in that world, anything “spiritual” seems to be accepted as Godly.

Thanks Hope for this article. Yes it’s being introduced everywhere in churches, and even in the medical field and people are falling for it, hook line and sinker. It’s also in the gyms as well. You’re right, it’s blatant deception. Satan is on the loose but Praise God, one day he will be thrown into the lake of fire. And yes it’s full of Hinduism, just as Tom said in his comment.
